Across Europe, research papers are published every day. Yet, brilliant work from smaller or less-visible institutions is often scattered and hidden under dozens of different names. Recognition and influence in science depend not only on quality but also on visibility and coherence.
EUt+ sought a way to ensure that every discovery from its universities carries one shared, unmistakable mark, so that researchers’ work would not risk dilution, fragmented citations, or a weaker voice in global science, and to signal to the world that Europe can act as one.
Thanks to the EUt+ Common Affiliation, every joint paper can now be signed with a double affiliation: the local university and EUt+.
This standardised format avoids ad hoc mentions such as “EUt+, Cyprus” and introduces the unified form “European University of Technology, European Union.” Researchers now use a recognised formula, validated institutionally and supported by the 9 member universities of the EUt+ alliance. This strengthens citation metrics, improves discoverability in databases, and builds the EUt+ brand as a credible scientific entity.
This decision reflects the understanding that EUt+ represents more than just a network; it signifies a shared strategic vision and a sense of belonging (affectio societatis). Therefore, all publications are encouraged to adopt this double affiliation. The use of the EUt+ affiliation is also encouraged in line with EUt+’s commitment to Open Access.
Together, EUt+ researchers now work under a single scientific identity.

It would be advisable for the use of double affiliation to be applied not only in publications but also in research profiles (e.g. Google Scholar).
